What do you know about Hawaii? Have you heard of this place before? Pull out your map: where is it located? Make sure to stamp Hawaii in the kids' passport and they can stamp it with whatever you have at home: stickers, stamp markers or by drawing their own.  Check out this clip to learn a little bit more about Hawaii.

HAWAII

Choose 2-3 20-30 minute activities from the options below:

Volcano science
Volcano science

You can get up close and personal with volcanoes in Hawaii, Hawaii itself was even forged from volcanoes rising from the sea! Talk about what happens to cause a volcano to erupt - there are so many fun new words to learn here and roll around our mouths: lava, magma, molten! Time to try this easy ‘volcano’ baking soda & vinegar experiment !

Aloha!
Aloha!

Letter learning but make it fun - write out ALOHA in big letters and have kids go over the letters with colorful flower stickers, or whatever they love to stick. Funky fine motor skills work!

Tiki Mask Toilet Rolls
Tiki Mask Toilet Rolls

In Polynesian culture, Tiki masks were created for protection - they made them with scary faces, to scare off evil spirits, and each one has a story behind them. Got a bunch of toilet rolls lying around? Grab the neon paint and have your kids paint Tiki-style masks like this onto them, or any face they dream up. As they paint, encourage them to think up a ‘back story’ for their Tiki mask.

Helpful sidenote: Storytelling creates empathy in kids, helps with brain development & interpersonal skills. Win!

Pompom Pineapples
